| Rich text message * : | It might be worth checking your local authority website for what is called a Decent Homes Assistance grant. It is for help with thermal efficiency and decent homes work, eg windows, draught proofing, insulation even a new roof. Don't know if all councils are doing them, ours is/was but it wasn't advertised and we found it by accident. Ours looked promising but then they refused us at the last minute. All councils are different so it might be worth an application. You do need to be on a qualifying benefit though. Our local authority maximum grant was £27,000. We suspect we were declined due to the fear of opening a can of worms as on our cul-de-sac there are at least 8 privately owned but we won't give up the other factor is we are planning to remove all PRC components and brick and block up. For info we do not need planning permission for this work as it's classed as a repair but the local authority will request brick samples for colour and texture to make sure it will fit in. Thanks BILL |
